Treasa, this is such a wonderful poem. So tender and beautiful. And the ending is just amazing. If this were gymnastics I'd say you stuck the landing.

"And this is how it was between them,

each day a day long and forever a day young."

I like what this poem tells me of the grandparents. There is beauty and tenderness in all of this that I hope each reader sees it. I did completely. Good read!

One of my favorite couplets:

"A delicacy performed ’til the spring coil

hiccups back to its little lifetime again."

But the whole thing is so lovely. My eyes kept traveling back up to read it again.

Treasa, loved this beautifully observed poem, especially the last stanza’s complex clarity about time♥️

Treasa, I'm choked up from you beautiful and tender poem. I'm a grandpa myself, but not yet sitting in that chair...and I don't smoke. The picture captured the mood and message perfectly.

Ah thanks so much Sandy. He got the rocker for his 80th and never liked it but was too gentle and polite to say so.

The title had originally been 'Little lifetime,' it might still change. That couplet is my favourite too. Thanks Margaret Ann
